Anyone need to hide a body?
Hope everyone’s enjoying Episode Five? If you don’t know yet, I’ve put it up as a free download here. Go read that instead of listening to me blathering on about laminate flooring.
Yep, so I spent the weekend working on one of the bedrooms installing some laminate flooring. Or, rather, I should say I spent the weekend prepping the room.
Gave it a fresh coat of paint and ripped out all the old carpet. So, if anyone in the Toronto area needs to dispose of a body, I’ve got a bit of carpet here I need to get rid. Win-win. Can’t go wrong. (Seriously though, don’t kill anyone.)
Here we see the lovely sub-floor that took way longer than it should have to flatten all the protruding screw and nail heads.
Oh, and we also painted the room. Hence, the removed socket covers in the photo. Sorry, but I forgot to take photos before painting. It was just a basic builders’ white paint though.
I know what you’re thinking, and don’t worry! We made sure to put down an even layer of aluminium foil under the laminate underpadding, as you can see in the photo. There’s absolutely no way now that the aliens will know that there there’s anyone sleeping there to abduct. Seriously though, that’s just part of the padding that protrudes out, so that the next row of padding overlaps it. I think it’s for heat retainment?
When the carpet was off, we also encountered lovely stuff like this nice gouge in the OSB. I’m guessing one of the builders rested his circular saw there (and somehow had also broken the guard on it?)
That’s a nail under the moulding. A very big nail. A very big nail that I tried to get out by doing a little excavating with a chisel, then gave up.
I ended up borrowing my dad’s angle grinder in the end.
Once all that was out of the way, I test fitted a few pieces so that the wife could see how they looked.
I’m going to try to cut back on all the crazy overtime that I’m doing to attempt to get this room done during the week.
Don’t worry, I also did some fun stuff too. One of my parents cats looks like she might have gained a pound of two recently, so I got this:
The feeder, not the Lysol. Don’t feed your cats Lysol.
This thing supposedly forces them to actively grab the food with their paws from the little green cup things, and stops them from gorging. We’ll see how well it works. Updates to follow.
Lily didn’t really seem to care about the feeder and decided to play with this instead.
Here’s a bonus pic of her deciding to take a nap in there.
Anyways, hope everyone had a good weekend! Remember to stay safe in these crazy times!
(P.S. I’m also going to make a concerted effort to post blog updates at least twice a week.)
