The First Elephant

Hi there, guys and gals.

Just a quick update, in which I’ll be addressing one of those elephants stuffed into this room.

Yes, this site looks… like something you wouldn’t expect to find in this day and age.

Here’s my line of reasoning. I’ve attempted to try quite a few of the more professional WordPress themes and templates out… and it wasn’t a pretty sight/site. Graphics design just isn’t my forte. I mean, take a look at the cover for Episode Four if you need proof.

Well, If It Worked For Ancient Greece…

I’ve gone and done it, guys and gals.

As you can probably tell from looking at the sidebar, there’s now a big, shiny Patreon logo. Well, not really… I mean, it’s average-sized and sort of matte red. But, it’s there now.

If you’re willing to forego a couple of coffees a month, I’d be grateful if you chose to send that money my way instead.

Please note that this isn’t a requirement to get access to new ebooks. All new ebooks will also get listed on Amazon, Kobo, etc. And, as always, if you can’t afford to get an ebook in the future, contact me and I’ll send you a free copy.

Also, I’m still thinking about the rewards levels at each tier, and they’re most definitely not the final product. To that end, I’m not unwilling to make changes. If you see something that just looks wrong or weird (or if you think my dice idea is just plain dumb), let me know and I’ll take a look.

Spilling Some More Beans

Happy October, guys and gals.

Just like the it says on the can, I’m going to let you all in on a little bit of my plans.

It looks like I’ll be trying out Patreon to see if I can make it work.

Of course, I’m not just going to say “gimme money” and leave it at that. I’m planning on offering rewards to anyone that decides to become a patron.

Most of the rewards will be digital, as shipping costs may prove prohibitive for many physical rewards. Nonetheless, I am trying to figure out a way to offer physical rewards, such as signed paperbacks.

The Plan Going Forward

Hi, guys and gals. Hope everyone’s doing well.

Not much laminate flooring done today, as I worked later than I had expected. This leads right into the reason behind this post. Namely, I’m going to explain my tentative plan for the future.

As I said, I was working late today. Again. And I’m really starting to hate that.

I work in IT, and I’ve been working crazy hours at an understaffed department for a long time. This not only bleeds into my personal life, but also cuts into the time available to write. Basically, by the time I’m finished with the “day” job, I’m just too drained to sit in front of a word processor. Our current pandemic has just exacerbated this, as recent work-from-home policies has increased my IT workload even more.

I need a change, or I’m going to burn out.

… Of Mice and Men

Where to begin? Well, I suppose an apology to you guys and gals is in order first. I should’ve posted some sort of update a lot earlier than this.

The short of it is that Episode 5 is delayed a bit (yet again, I know…).

Why? I can’t go into too much detail, but there were some medical issues in the family (everyone’s okay now), and that just threw about five different monkey wrenches into what should’ve been a well thought-out plan to get this book to you guys. To be quite honest, while the whole ordeal was happening, I just was not in the right state of mind to write or work on edits.

Going to try to pick up where I left off with my editor. Can’t promise anything, as we see how well that turned out last time…
